In law, when there is a court case or a pending litigation on a property, we say the property is subject to “Lis pendens”. To know if a property is the subject matter of a litigation, one has to go to the Court Registry of the Court within which the land falls under its jurisdiction to conduct a Court Registry search using the particulars of the land.
To make it easier for the public to know whether a property is subject to lis pendens, the Lagos State Government developed the LAGOS STATE LIS PENDENS ELECTRONIC SYSTEM where all court matters relating to land in Lagos are listed.
The online platform can be accessed via https://lagoslispendens.com.ng/. You will be required to create an account to access the information in the database. As of Thursday, March 03, 2022, the top four locations in Lagos with the highest number of properties under litigation are Ikeja with 468 properties, Lekki with 367 properties, Ikorodu with 306 properties and Agege with 105 properties.
